Enter the following command to determine which WIC slot your VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 is installed in:

show diag

The output of this command will appear similar to below:

WIC Slot 2:

VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1 – 2-Port RJ-48 Multiflex Trunk – T1/E1
Hardware Revision : 0.0
Top Assy. Part Number : 800-22629-05
Board Revision : B0
Deviation Number 94603
Fab Version : 04
PCB Serial Number : xxxxxxxx
RMA Test History : 00
RMA Number : 0-0-0-0
RMA History : 00
Product (FRU) Number : VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1
Version Identifier : V01
EEPROM format version 4

The following command Sets or Changes the card type to support either T1 (t1) or E1 (e1) circuits:

Router(config)#card type {T1 | E1} subslot

subslot specifies the VWIC slot number. Range can be 0 to 3, depending on host module or platform.

• When the command is used for the first time, the configuration takes effect immediately.

• A subsequent change in the card type will not take effect unless you enter the reload command or reboot the router.

Therefore as an example using my card placement (as seen above in show diag):

 Router(config)#card type E1 0 2

This will setup the card for E1 services.  Now if you were to enter the show controllers E1 you will see the state of each of the two interfaces on this card.

@Jay0207 Hi Jay, this command is only required for the 2nd generation VWIC cards (i.e. VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1).  For the 1st generation (VWIC-2MFT-E1) this command is not required.

@uoverip @Jay0207 Thanks for your reply, how can I do it with this first generation card? I have also tried with VWIC 2MFT-G703 still not getting anything

@Jay0207  @uoverip  @Jay0207 The card will be recognized by the 2801 as a E1 controller card.  Therefore you should be able to configure the card directly using the "controller e1 <slot>" command
